Week 6 Round-up part 2

As promised, here’s a second update for this week.

The main interest in this post is the individual stats awards that have been revised in the light of changes to the league.
Although the league itself will now  consist of only 6 games we haven’t deleted any of the records from the games. The awards are based on averages not aggregates so there’s no real issue there. However, we felt it was fair to reduce the qualification mark and this has opened things up quite a bit. Some of you have appeared on the board this week without even having played and we've now split them into separate pages for batting and bowling.

CTU were hardest hit by the recent cancellations which was a dubious reward for being the standout team from the first month. It will be great to see them back next week and they shouldn’t be in any doubt that they’re in a game then.
It could be a triumphant return as a win will make them champions with a game to spare but they’re up against JURA who ran them close back in January and have only improved since. CTU have got the run rates in their favour but if JURA draw level on points they’ll also eat into that and then who knows what pressure will do in a decisive last week?

If it does go down to the last lap then both LWW and Ova Throws will still have a big say in the title but before then they’ve got their own issues to sort out. Unfortunately one of them has to come last and their situation mirrors that at the top of the table. If LWW win they make certain they avoid the wooden spoon but if Ova Throws finally get some points on the board then the matter stays unresolved and both teams will need to keep an eye on the other’s game a week later.

As for the cup, the question of ‘to seed or not to seed’ is probably going to be irrelevant as we’re now looking at a round-robin of shortened games. We can have a knockout in April if you fancy it but the plan for the 25th is a fun event where everyone – umps included – finishes around the same time, before we give the gongs out. This way also gives those of you with squads a chance to let everyone have a go.

Thanks, look forward to seeing you all on Monday as we reach the business end of the league.
