Week 7 Round up

Hello again.

If there's one thing we will never tire of it's enthusing about the cricket we get down at Sport In The City. Last night gave us plenty of opportunity for that and it was great to get back to a full complement of games

Matters at the foot of the table have been settled - read about LWW v Ova Throws here.

But the biggest prize of them all remains unclaimed after a cracking game between CTU and JURA.

How those games have affected the table can be found here.

There's been a bit of a shake-up in the batting and bowling awards too. Some of you took a statistical hit but others moved up into much stronger positions. One or two more made it on to the board - sometimes in a high ranked spot. Then there are  one or two others who could do something similar if they play next week.

So - what's to come next...?

Whether or not JURA can snatch the trophy away from CTU depends on how all four teams play next week. CTU may have lost their aura of invincibility but they still hold the aces. The league is played over two months, not two weeks, and their purple patch in February means they are still well ahead on Run Rate, so much so that even a slender win over LWW will almost certainly give them title. LWW have nothing to play for in terms of position but they do have revenge to exact on CTU from that February period. And LWW have added strength since then, as they showed last night. If CTU win the title they will deserve it - they will have to perform right up to the end.

JURA might be hoping the long time leaders get affected by some nerves but that's something they themselves may now have to address. For a while JURA have been looking at CTU's table top position from afar - suddenly it's almost within their grasp. Like LWW, Ova Throws' position is confirmed but don't expect them to lie down and surrender either. They will feel they deserve to finish the season with some points to show for several last over finishes. The last one of those was against JURA themselves, just a fortnight ago, so there is plenty of intrigue in their next meeting.

A meaningful end to the league for everyone then. The week after that we'll move on to the Cup. We're still working on the format but we'll have something  nailed down by next Monday so we can tell you then what the plan is. As I mentioned last night, we'll also be contacting you by email this week - either all on the mailing list or just one from each team - to get an idea of what to do in April and beyond.

I'll be going through the stats with a fine toothed comb before the final game, just to be sure, but please shout out before then if you see anything amiss, or if you have anything else to impart.

Thanks, look forward to seeing you all next Monday when we find out who will be crowned Champions.
