JURA v CTU 28/1/2013 CTU won by 19 runs.
CTU were the
deserved winners but they couldn’t be certain of victory until the closing
overs of a keenly fought contest. They looked comfortable when their opening
pair, Ty and Aidan, easily knocked off 38 of the 61 they had been set to win
but JURA dragged themselves back into contention, finding a challenging line just
outside off stump and pulling off several run outs from direct hits. Hanzaq was
the man who stood out in both these departments. At one point CTU’s last
pairing had been pegged back to just 8 runs ahead but the batsmen, Miller and
Jason, kept their heads and calmness had prevailed by the finish.
JURA
themselves had begun patiently, Chris and Ryan accumulating 17 fairly risk-free
runs. The other pairs tried to take the attack to CTU’s bowlers a little more.
Although they were far from reckless, a
couple of stumpings towards the end of the innings meant that JURA
didn’t quite manage to cash in as fully as they would have wished. Both sides
fielded well and JURA scored just 9 less runs and lost just 2 more wickets; CTU
were better by just enough.
