Hello again,
It was a bit of a different Monday this week but there was still plenty of enjoyable cricket to be had.
No Featured Match as such this week but there was a cracking game between JURA and Ova Throws. It was the third game Ova Throws have lost after going into the last over with at least an even chance of winning. On this occasion they needed 16 off 6 balls but lost a couple of wickets in the chase and fell 19 short. They remain without a win but three of their defeats have been by a combined total of 27 runs - if those results were reversed they would be in second place, with a chance of the title. As it is JURA occupy that spot and now seem to be the team most likely to halt CTU's march - assuming anyone can. Both teams who played in Week 5 have added players to the Awards table.
The overall league table has been updated too. Neither LWW or Morrisons are mathematically out of the title but nor are either of them yet safe from the wooden spoon. Sadly, Morrisons had to concede this week and allow LWW to catch them up on points although Run Rate means LWW stay in 4th place. No-one's position is certain and there's a lot to play for over the next month.
We didn't get as much cricket as we hoped this Monday - not just in the league but in terms of friendlies too - and that's always a shame. We'd like as many games on as possible and we're constantly trying to attract more teams and players but unfortunately there are occasions when it doesn't all click into place. Our aim is to run an efficient, coherent league but we don't lose sight of the fact that the most important part is people coming down and enjoying playing, umpiring, being involved. Despite this week's disappointment we're happy overall with the way everything's progressing and I think now would be a good time to reiterate, from the admin side, how grateful we are for all your help, support and input.
Looking forward to next week, Morrisons and CTU should both be raring to go after a week off. LWW practised this Monday just gone and will now look to test the legitimacy of JURA's title challenge. Ova Throws will be hoping a rest can bring a change of fortune.
As ever, feel free to contact us about the stats, friendlies, players, anything else....
Thanks and enjoy
